HOW WE MET: We actually met in 8th grade when our two Catholic grade schools merged together into one. HOW WE MOVED FROM INITIAL MEETING TO FIERCE FRIEND: We really grew closer in our mid 20s, as we were experiencing major life events together at the same time - like getting married one month apart and then having daughters exactly 9 months apart! HOW WE STAY CONNECTED TODAY: We talk almost every day! About anything!! We text every day -it’s been this way for years now… at least since our girls were babies (and they are 4 and 5, now!) We had the chance to do some outdoor socially distant visits recently, but can’t wait until we’re able to have a girls night out again!! WHAT MAKES THIS FRIENDSHIP SO SPECIAL: Kelli: Mily doesn’t judge me for my life decisions or my ever-changing life direction either! She’s also fiercely loyal, and loves friends as her family. In Mily you know you have a friend for life who loves fully, shares her heart and mind and opens up her soul to you, to help you figure things out and helps you to stay grounded and look at things from various perspectives., all with a healthy and much needed dose of humor! Mily: Kelli’s mission is to improve the lives of working moms, and that radiated through when I became a mom right after she did. She was always there to answer all of my questions, help me through my most stressful moments, and most importantly set an example. She knows no limits- in motherhood, career, and friendship. HOW WE MET: Through our husbands! They went to college together.⠀
⠀
HOW WE MOVED FROM INITIAL MEETING TO FIERCE FRIEND: My husband would often tell me we should get together… We had attended each other’s mutual parties over the years, but never really took the chance to get to know each other. Eventually we started to travel together as couples, and that led to a trip to Maui that changed everything. We started to talk about our pasts, our present, our likes, our dislikes, our idiosyncrasies... I remember after the trip, I wanted to be in more regular contact, but having a lot of self-doubt, I was really nervous to reach out. I pushed myself and texted her to share how much fun I had getting to know her and that I’d love to be closer friends. Obviously, the rest is history: we went from “husband’s friend” to “soul sisters” who are in touch almost daily⠀

HOW WE STAY CONNECTED TODAY: We text for quick things, and talk on Voxer weekly. We share and process just about everything: hilarious/embarrassing stories, parenting, life victories and struggles, the mundane, the serious...we are each other’s sounding board. We have a pact that if one of us dies, the other must delete our text/vox chains from the others’ phone 😂 ⠀

WHAT MAKES THIS FRIENDSHIP SO SPECIAL: We just “get” each other, and there is no need to explain things to one another. We are intentional about our friendship and we are always there for each other. We have sadly both had our share of devastating loss and grief in our lives, and are a steadfast support to one another in those losses. We don’t shy away from hard stuff. We have an absolute blast together. We share our adventures as moms together, and our kids consider one another family.⠀
